Here is an interesting article about the technology industry’s slow realization of the value of Art. Some organizations like Xerox and M.I.T. have known this for some time and have made moves to actively include art practices in their business. They remain however, in a minority that exists in a nation and culture that under values, or flat out ignores, art in its educational system. Nevertheless, there seems to be a recent and positive expansion of this idea, which was addresses at the annual POP Tech conference in Camden Maine. Bout time.
My favorite quote is from Jay Silver, a Maker-in-Residence at Intel and a creator of Makey Makey. “Some disciplines have evolved to their own death. Engineering has evolved logically, but not necessarily culturally,”
