This past October I began my residency with the Paul Dresher Ensemble in Oakland. In 2012, a number of residencies were awarded on a monthly basis to local musicians and artists to utilize the ensemble’s recording studio and shop space.
In my time there I have been collaborating with Peter Kropf on a sculptural map of California that extracts temperature data from the internet and plays it as musical notes.
We are using re-claimed, servo controlled organ pipes to create the notes and a raspberry pie microcontroller as the brain.
Check out the progress shots of the map and the air system being built.
